CONSTITUTION AND BYLAWS
ALASKA INTERSCHOLASTIC ACTIVITY ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION (AKIAAA)

ARTICLE I – NAME, PURPOSE AND GOVERNANCE

Section 1: The organization shall be known as the Alaska Interscholastic Activity Administrators Association (AKIAAA).

Section 2: To provide activity administrators with the knowledge and skills required to administer the highest quality education based activity programs.

Section 3: A voluntary association of public and private high Schools established by and is responsible to its members. Committed to improving the governance of activities within the state of Alaska in cooperation with the Alaska Schools Activities Association (ASAA).

ARTICLE II – MEMBERSHIP

Section 1: Open to all individuals whose primary responsibility is the coordination, supervision and administering of high school activities.

Section 2: The amount of annual dues will be set by the Executive Board. Dues may be in conjunction with the NIAAA.

ARTICLE III – OFFICERS AND DUTIES

Section 1: The administration of the association shall be vested in the Executive Board.

Section 2: The Executive board will be made up of:

  1. President
  2. Vice-President
  3. Secretary/Treasurer
  4. ASAA Liaison
  5. 1 at-large representative from a 1A or 2A school
  6. 1 at-large representative from a 3A or 4A school

Section 3: Duties of the President (include but are not limited to):

  1. Preside over all meetings
  2. Appoint chairman to committees as needed
  3. Oversee the annual conference

Section 4: Duties of the Vice-President (include but are not limited to):

  1. Assist and fill in for the president when needed
  2. Assist the Secretary/Treasurer
  3. Assist with planning and execution of events

Section 5: Duties of the Secretary/Treasurer (include but are not limited to):

  1. Keep minutes of meetings.
  2. Be responsible for all receipt and disbursement of funds.
  3. Keep records of all financial transactions
  4. Assist in the maintaining of the website

Section 6: Duties of at-large representative (include but are not limited to):

  1. Represent the interest and perspectives of the 1A/2A or 3A/4A schools
  2. Attend board meetings (virtual or in-person)
  3. Attend conferences
  4. Assist with planning and execution of events

ARTICLE IV – COMMITTEES

Section 1: The president in conjunction with the Executive Board shall have the authority to appoint committees to facilitate the administration of the association.

Section 2: Committees may include but are not limited to:

  • Awards
  • Communication
  • Conferences
  • Fund raising
  • Membership
  • Mentorship
  • Sponsorship

ARTICLE V – MEETINGS

Section 1: There shall be an annual general membership meeting.

Section 2: The Executive board shall meet at least two (2) additional times annually.

ARTICLE VI – AMENDMENT

Section 1: The constitution and bylaws may be amended by a simple majority vote of the board provided that at least 30 days advance notice had been mailed to the membership.

Section 2: Unless otherwise specified amendments take effect 30 days after their approval.
